Can steering wheel audio controls be installed onto a car's wheel without changing the stereo system?

I have a nissan versa and I want the controls in my steering wheel. I know that you can buy controls when you change the stereo system but I don't want to do that.Can steering wheel audio controls be installed onto a car's wheel without changing the stereo system?
If it is an option on those vehicles, yes you can. But that will require a new steering wheel and possibly a new air bag module.





This can be expensive and like I said, is ONLY possible if it is a factory option.
