Under sound and audio devices in control panel its says i have no audio device?

what can i do, my computer will not play any audio, i was messing around with stuff in the device manger (stupid thing to do)and i must have done something wrong, I'm running windows xp sp 2, please help, my computer was working fine until i started messing around with things, PS would a system restore sort out hardware problems,Under sound and audio devices in control panel its says i have no audio device?
Things to try:

If you have the audio device's driver disc, insert it and then In Device Manager right click in the right pane and select ';Scan for hardware changes';. If it finds your audio device it may ask for a location of the driver in which case you should point it to the CD Rom. If you don't have the disc, go to the manufacturer's website and download (make sure you get the exact right one, or it may not work properly) it, then point to the downloaded location when prompted.

System Restore to a previous point (before you started exploring the device manager). You will not lose newly installed programs or changed files.Under sound and audio devices in control panel its says i have no audio device?
Might as well try it ,Failing that re install sound drivers Or download from computer manufacturers.
That mean ur sound card driver is corrupt or u accidentally remove it. Install it from motherboard driver disk.

System Restore can help but you have to face some other losses such as if you install any program after that restore point than u lost it after system restore
well i am only new at all of this
basicaly if you install windows version means all audio software also there.

so select start-%26gt;computer-%26gt;control panel-%26gt;audio devices

and you konw all think
your audio drivers somehow must have been uninstalled.so get your driver cd and and install your audio drivers once again and i think it will work.
