Are there universal remote controls for stereos or for digital audio systems?

Are there universal remote controls for stereos or for digital audio systems?

I got a AIWA digital audio system and the moel is: CX-NA508. The problem is that the volume won't go up. It's a plastic knob for the volume and i gotta push it slowly and then turn the knob carefully. Sometimes it goes up 3 and then down some and then i gotta keep trying till i can finally get to where i want. It's gotten worse so-- i never had a remote control for this before but-- do universal control remotes exist for stereos like they do for TV'S?

Help and advice me... if they do... where can i get em and what are they called?

THANKS! GOD BLESS!Are there universal remote controls for stereos or for digital audio systems?
You need a Universal Remote Control, which can be programmed with codes to control all of your components, or can learn codes from other remote controls. Programming and learning functions are easy and will simplify the operation of your system. Many remotes have Macro Command capability, which can execute several system functions with the touch of one button. Higher priced receivers often include an LCD touch-panel remote control that can operate the entire system by pressing icons on the remote鈥檚 screen.

I need a FREE audio editor with bass, treble, mid controls (a working equalizer)?

I have searched through many programs, such as Audacity and KISS and WavePad, and I have looked on many sites, but the only programs with working equalizers cost money, and the free ones make you pay if you want to use the equalizer. I don't need all the extra filters and effects so much as just the ability to adjust bass and treble levels, and the highs mids and lows just like on my DJX2 keyboard. I need a free program that lets me do this. Somebody please help! Where and what is that? well that is another question my friend lol.

You could also check the settings of your sound and audio devices in control panel.

Go to the audio tab of the sound and audio devices window.

Make sure you have an audio device for Play back, Recording and also MIDI play back.

Just click on the down arrows next to the option and select your audio device.

The active X controls would come with the hardware you purchased. Go to your vendor and download the latest drivers.

Don't think firefox and norton would slow things down so much that you would notice. They would not be so popular if they did.

well. you should just be able to tune into the radio station and then hold down the number you want it to be and you will hear a beep or you will see a number appear on the deck and it will show you that is is programmed to that number, sometimes its for a few seconds maybe 5 to 10 just to program it. Audio Steering Wheel Controls For 300se?

I Have A 1991 300se (126 Chassis) and am really intrested in installing audio and hopefully bluetooth hands free controls on my steering wheel...anyone know how or what steering wheel i can buy that would convert fairly easy onto my 126?

thanxAudio Steering Wheel Controls For 300se?
Unless you have steering wheel functionality for the MB phone already on your wheel, you are probably out of luck.

If you have that functionality, it can be done for about $1200-1500 dollars. There is cutting edge equipment out there that acts as an interface between modern bluetooth phones and MBs stock equipment. However, even that may not work on a car that old.

Likely you are looking at installing an entirely new system from scratch and probably paying more than the car is worth to do so, even if the technology existed.

Your best bet is to replace your entire headunit with a nice aftermarket system with voice control, such as the Pioneer AVIC line.

That will give you the ease of use and the newest technology, along with the ability to integrate sat radio and nav.

A cheaper route would be to add a Parrot Bluetooth car kit. That is a couple hundred bucks, but obviously no wheel functionality.

As far as I know there are no aftermarket steering wheels that do what you want, since the wheel buttoms would have to interface with MBs long obsolete system in use back in 1991.

Is this Navigation System compatible with the ford edge? And can I still use the steering wheel audio controls?

Not my car, my moms, but she's to technologically challenged to work Yahoo Answers..

ANYWAYS! She drives a 2008 Ford Edge SEL. It doesn't have a Navigation System now, just the standard 6 disc AM/FM radio deal. We can't find anywhere to buy the Navigation System made specifically for the edge, but we have found one that we like. That where my question comes into play.

Okay, so this is the System we would like to install in the car:

    http://www.eclipse-web.com/avn/avn6620overviews.html

It's the Eclipse AVN6620. Her question is, will it work in the edge? And can she still use the steering wheel mounted audio controls for the volume and what not?

If anyone could provide me with some feedback about it's compatibility or if they know where I can get the Ford Edge navigation system, please let me know.

Thanks in advance =)Is this Navigation System compatible with the ford edge? And can I still use the steering wheel audio controls?
Ford does offer a navi unit but be prepared to pay $1200+ for it. If you look on Crutchfield it is listed there, but after market is the way to go. Now, as far as the steering wheel controls go, yes they will work but plan on spending another $75-100 for an adapter from PAC. Without it, the controls will not work.Is this Navigation System compatible with the ford edge? And can I still use the steering wheel audio controls?
If you want the nav unit made specifically for your car, then you'll probably have to go the dealership.

and about your question. that system will work fine in her car. whether she can still use the steering wheel controls is kind of iffy. But there may be a wiring harness or something like it that will let you keep functionality of the steering wheel controls.

Adding a steering wheel with audio controls to my factory stereo ?

I have a 2009 ford focus. It didn't come with steering wheel controls for the stereo. I do how ever want to put one in but not sure it its even possible. I already have the steering wheel and it is a fit with my car. All i need to know is what kind of control lead i need to connect it to my stereo. I dont even know if my factory stereo can add it. If its possible. what will i need? And im getting an aftermarket sync system, and i also want to connect that to the steering wheel rather then drilling a hole in my dash to add the controls it comes with. is that possible?Adding a steering wheel with audio controls to my factory stereo ?
Read your car manual if your stereo is compatible it will say so if not go buy an aftermarket stereo that is compatible with the steering wheel

Can I buy steering wheel audio controls for my Dodge Caliber?

I am going to be ordering a new Dodge Caliber within the next couple of weeks. I am getting the SXT, and I am also going to get the Popular Equipment Group. This package includes fog lamps, leather-wrapped steering wheel w/audio controls, and bodyside body-color molding. Two questions: What is bodyside body-color molding? Do Caliber's really have steering wheel audio controls? I have looked for a picture everywhere, and I have not found one. Does anybody have this package? Is it worth the $200?Can I buy steering wheel audio controls for my Dodge Caliber?
The molding is the rubber strips on the sides to (hopefully) reduce the likelihood of damage from car doors, etc. The fact that it's body colored means it looks nicer than if it were black (it doesn't stand out so much).

As for the steering wheel audio controls, Dodge couldn't say it has them if it doesn't. They are very convenient, I have an Accord with them.

Overall, the package is easily worth it - and it shouldn't change the price by $200, it should be somewhat less unless you're paying full MSRP for the car, and I would hope that you aren't anywhere near that number.

Go to Edmunds.com or carpoint.msn.com, price exactly what you want, see what the dealer invoice is, and negotiate up from there, not down from MSRP.

Good luck! Can I buy steering wheel audio controls for my Dodge Caliber?
bodyside body color molding just means that the little strip running down the doors is painted the same as the rest of the car as opposed to the plain black plastic strips. The calibers can come with steering wheel audio controls there are three buttons on the back of each side of the steering wheel(six total). right side has volume up and down, and one other button, left side has channel up and down, one other. i think that the audio buttons are worth the $200 alone.
My 07 Charger has it and yes you can get it in a Caliber. Search 4 a dode.com you can build your Caliber anyway you want to there.

  • Will third-party car audio systems work with steering wheel audio controls?

I'm trying to get a small, dependable car with decent storage space, under $20K, that I can plug my iPod into and skip songs with a button on the steering wheel. Unfortunately, I have to move out of my parents' in August and can't wait for the '09s to come out, as most of them will have this feature.

I liked the Scion until I saw the trunk space wasn't good for hauling things like keyboards, guitars and amps (hey, guess my hobby!) and the gas mileage was less than optimal.

So now I'm thinking an Elantra SE with a third party audio system, but would really like to have those steering wheel controls be compatible with the system鈥攊s that possible?

So in addition to that question, if no, is there a car like what I'm looking for with the USB/iPod integration? It seems to only be on larger or pricer vehicles...

(PS - I don't mean an aux jack, I've tried that in my dad's Prius... iPod was all the way in the console bin and I couldn't control it.)Will third-party car audio systems work with steering wheel audio controls?
Since you say that your Dad has an aux-input jack on his Prius, it must be a 2006-current model year with at least the mid-grade audio system... (The aux-input jack just connects your audio device to output the headphone/line-out jack to produce audio on the car's speakers, nothing more.)

Here are some options for iPod integration (you can control your iPod through the touch screen and steering wheel controls, and songs will display on the MFD) for a 2004-current Prius:

    from CoastalETech: http://www.coastaletech.com/ULTIMATE%20I鈥?/a>

various Vais Technology products add an aux-input or will do an iPod hookup. (I used their older AIC-100i model without issues in my 2004 Prius for full iPod integration.): http://www.vaistech.com/

and the Denison DICE iPod integration kit:

    http://www.diceelectronics.com/ipod_inte鈥?/a> and

    http://priuschat.com/shop/product_info.p鈥?/a>

Similar information is found at: http://www.wikihow.com/Hook-up-an-iPod-i鈥?/a>

I think that both VaisTech and Denison make similar iPod integration products for other makes/models as well, if you are looking for a different car. Will third-party car audio systems work with steering wheel audio controls?
Normally you won't be able to get the interfaces until about 6 mos. to a year after the car is released. You may want to try PAC or Soundgate's tech support for more info.

How can you adjust audio controls on a Kenwood 5140?

I just bought a Kenwood 5140, connected to monoamp going to sub, and 4 channel amp going to speakers.

My problem is that I cannot adjust the bass level on the sub. When I go into audio controls it shows that it is ';locked';. Also in the setup menu it says there is no subwoofer attached, and it does not allow me to change that option.

My sub is toooooo loud, I need to turn down the bass!

Also, when the navigation is speaking, it will turn off the music, but the subwoofer will keep playing. HELP!How can you adjust audio controls on a Kenwood 5140?
so u likely have front - rear - and sub rca outputs, you say during a call frt and real mute but not the sub, the sub is non fade so subs will allways play.

my deck has sub level controls o to + 10 or something like that, the locked function may be a lock out to keep people from messing with the system, so you need to refer to your manual or find one online via google or ask someone who knows or has one, see if Kenwood has a board to ask this.

now u say the sub is too loud this could be from deck settings or the gain on the amp is sett to high and not mixing with the front and rear speakers, my advice is if the amps gain is set above 1/4 you need to turn it all the way down and slowly turn it up until it mixes to sound natural with the front speakers.

get the manual and learn the settings, there is a function call the loudness button that will raise the bass tone, all so see if the sub and amp are too overbearing on the mids and highs via the gain on the amp.How can you adjust audio controls on a Kenwood 5140?
sounds like your amp isn't using the sub output of your head unit. Which is why it's locked. It's probably just using the front/rear output and has a crossover internally.

well if you mean your onboard soundcard yes it would be able to disable via the bios, but it depends on your bios, it would say audio controller
not sure about laptops but there normally is in the bios of a desktop. can you specify the make and model of your machine

If your audio isn't working properly, deleting the driver and reinstalling it is a good start to troubleshooting it however be sure you know the driver you need (and have it available for the reinstall) before you delete your current one or you might be making your problem worse.

You may need to open up the case and find model numbers on the audio card (or the motherboard if it's integrated) and find the drivers through a web search if you don't have them handy. It's a good idea to download the newest drivers off the manufacturer's website anyway, so even if you have the original install disk that came with the audio card, you may want to still download the driver from the company's website.
Right mouse click on My computer, Manage, Device manager, and enable sound card.

Check out these links, they may help. (especially the second one!)My audio volume is too low. I can hardly hear it. The volume control is on maximum?
    If you are using Windows:

First check in Audio Properties, make sure your WAV volume is up, also make sure your speaker setup is correct.

Also, If you have a 2.1 or 5.1 or 7.1 card and speaker system and you are attempting to view a DVD movie that uses Dolby, you should check in advanced settings of the Media Player to ensure you have levels set correctly in there.
did you check the volume control under the start program (the more expanded one) or check to see if the spot where the speaker wire plugs in your computer came loose somehow. Also if there's a volume spot on your speaker check that.

EDIT: actualy just noticed you had a laptop, if the speakers are internal try the blowing on the speakers as dust may have settled in them or if you have it the can of air works best......if all else fails lightly tap the area of the speaker as something may have come loose inside and you may be able to knock it back in place.
You should restore your computer or restart it. Try both. Hpe this helps!

If you install an aftermarket stereo, you'll need to install a steering wheel adapter control module in order to continue to use the steering wheel controls. There's a couple manufacturers that make them, PAC SWI is the one I see most often. They make units for just about every brand.

Here's the PAC adapters offered by Crutchfield:

Just buy the unit that's compatible with your model of aftermarket stereo.

And then click on the Sounds Tab and you will see a list of items for which you can specify your own sounds

    If you are looking for effects like Bass Treble etc, then you will have to double click on the ';volume'; button in your taskbar (beside the time) and then Options %26gt;%26gt; Advanced controls and you shud find another button called ';Advanced';

When you click it, you will find Bass, Treble etc if your sound card supports it.How to find the sound effect manager in the windows control panel? in my panel are only sounds %26amp; audio devices
might not be a sound effect manager. It all depend on your sound card, and the software that the manufacturer provide with the card. if its a built in and not an add on there probably is none.

Can't hear sound from computer.when i click on volume control it says i donot have any audio mixers installed

i can hear system sounds but cannot hear game sounds and songs......Can't hear sound from computer.when i click on volume control it says i donot have any audio mixers installed
More than likely you need to update your drivers. If you just did an automatic update and things were working just fine before, you can downgrade or ';rollback'; the drivers. I had this issue with Vista and the conexant audio drivers. Can't hear sound from computer.when i click on volume control it says i donot have any audio mixers installed
its a sound driver problem either they arent installed or you need to update them or if you have vista it dosent have drivers for vista so your screwed go back to XP only safe bet good luck

  • '; no audio device'; message under sounds and audio device in control panel?

I have found that on my XP laptop the sound is not working. In the control panel it says no audio device.I install the soundmax device driver for my thinkpad and under control panel of souds and audio device I see the soundmax. Also tested the sound it seems to work fine.

    BUT when I restart my system the system typically restores back to a point saying again ';no audio device';

I have to again install the driver everytime I restart my system

Can someone have experience with this or help resolve this issue.

-Peter'; no audio device'; message under sounds and audio device in control panel?
Make sure you are downloading the drivers from the official manufacturer's website as others can be fake.

Also if that doesn't work go to ';Add/Remove Programs'; from the ';Control Panel'; and remove any software related to the audio device.

Then reinstall once you have restarted your PC. If that doesn't work try the windows ';Troubleshooting'; section or the official website for help.

Looking at the above answer I can tell you it's not a virus, a virus wouldn't be able to access your drivers just the software from Windows.'; no audio device'; message under sounds and audio device in control panel?
type in the name and model followed by drivers and downoad audio drivers for your pc.

    Example: gateway 4100 drivers.

you should not have to do it everytime.

right click on my computer, then click properties, then device mgr, there you will see audio, dbl click and when it asks let it search for them.
You might have a virus... my computer, when I had a virus, would constantly make me reinstall the driver. The only plus side is I never turn off my actual desktop computer. When I reformatted the computer however I lost this problem.
    install all window update

Removed Sytem Control Manager - NO AUDIO?

I have no audio on my laptop and have tried the previous recommendions ie restore to earlier date but after doing so it has not been retrievable. When restoring it said I has removed System Control Manager. Also after re booting I am being asked to install Power 2 Go Express but to ensure audio device and high definition (audio bus) is on. It is also requesting CD ROM which I do not have. ANY SUGGESTIONS - PLEASE!!!!!!Removed Sytem Control Manager - NO AUDIO?
what you need is the drivers that came with your laptop. I also do have system control manager, and I have had remove it once back then, but I never did uninstalled it, all I did was removed it from the startup applications, what just happened was I cannot control the volume and screen brightness using function so what I did was to restore it on the startup applications.

try restoring it to run on startup by going to start%26gt;run then type msconfig then go to startup tab and make sure that there is a check on MGSysCtrl tickbox. then restart your laptop. If the problem still persists then you must install its drivers. The drivers for your audio is located on the CD that came with the laptop.

It is impossible that you cant have that drivers CD since whenever you buy a laptop or even desktops, or even printers or even monitors, there will always be a cd accompanied by it. Even a thumbdrive has one. Unless your laptop is a second hand which means that there would be a possibility that the seller did not provide you the drivers that came with the laptop.

If you really do not have the CD, go to the manufacturer's website, for example yur Laptop is a MSI Brand then search for its website and hopefully there would be drivers available for your laptop on their site. Take note of the model of your laptop since even if you have a same brand laptop but with different models then those brands still differs on its own drivers.

Hope this helpsRemoved Sytem Control Manager - NO AUDIO?
make sure your computer has the latest version of windows update and then go to device manager and see if windows can find and download the driver for you

New car audio system - steering wheel controls?

I'm planning on replacing my car's sound system, new stereo, speakers, etc., so I'm trying to educate myself about these things. If I have everything replaced, will my factory installed steering wheel controls still work? I've gotten used to them by now.

Also, I don't want to go crazy with my budget, but I want quality sound. Do you think I should get subs or just stick with some quality speakers? Car has: two tweeters, two 4x6 and two 6x9. 2002 pontiac grand am coupe with monsoon system factory installed. Thanks!New car audio system - steering wheel controls?
Your next aftermarket must have a wireless remote for your wheel controls to work. A IR lead must be aiming at the aftermarket radio.

A stereo car shop charged me $200.00 for an installer to make some sort of harness to cennect the factory radio to teh wheel controls to the after market radio. Since my '01 Impala has resettable controls such as tire pressure monitor and oil life reset built in the factory radio, they mounted the factory radio in the trunk on a fender, behind the carpet. It has power to it and the light delay preferances, oil resetting and **** still work. The onstar no longer works. I'm sure I can run a small speaker under the dash for it but I don't use the service. I can power on, mute, vol +/- and more with steering wheel controls.

I have the IR lead under the center console, up the floor shifter boot and sticking out slightly The wheel controls work only if its in neutral, D, or 123. The lead is too far forward when the shifter is in park.

    Enough about me, to aswer your question;

Stick w/ a budget on spending, if you have an mp3 player, get a head unit (HU) w/ an aux input. Use the pre amps to you amp(s). then run the rears to your 6x9s.

Go for what ever subs you can afford.

The factory Monsoon isn't too bad.

I find alot of my buds reading car audio mags and buy **** manufacturers give to theses guys for free. Then my buds get bored w/ what they got and redo their ****. Don't fall in the same $ trap.

    cheers

U CAN RESTOR UR COMPUTER IN BACK DATE.

OR IF U FIND AUDIO FILE IN RECYCLE BIN THEN RESTOR IT
U NEED TO LOAD THE AUDIO DRIVER AGAIN.

    THATS IT

I SUGGEST GO TO www.download.com and look for audio driver .

it is not a big issue.

if u have intel chipset cd u can also have it from there.
You can download Belarc Advisor and find the sound card make and model there, then go to the manufacturer's website and download the correct driver.

    the link is http://www.belarc.com
If you deleted the audio device from control panel

    Windows should say

    FOUND NEW HARDWARE

    the next time you reboot

    Have you tried that ?

If it isnt finding new hardware on reboot

you can use the Control Panel

ADD new Hardware to search for an Audio Controller

    and Install it

the driver files should all still be there on your system

I need a cheap(ish) DVD player with remote volume control and 192khz audio DAC.?

    Hi

I am looking for a cheap(ish) DVD player but it MUST have the following features...

A volume control on the remote - this is essential!

192 khz DAC audio quality (not 96khz as many are)

DVI ir HDMI output (or at the very least true RGB scart output (not component Cr Y Cb etc))

A lot of the cheap machines out there seem to offer the Audio DAC's and digital connections, but it's extremely difficult to determine if there is a volume control on the remote - which is the very reason I'm changing from my old player.

I would really appreciate any suggestions - thanks.I need a cheap(ish) DVD player with remote volume control and 192khz audio DAC.?
Oppo does all of this with out the volume control, why not just use the volume control from the recever or the TV, or if you are useing Headphones just buy a headphone vol. switch

theh 192 Khz is also only going to work on things that are recorded that way,SACD, DVD-A. DVD is only recorded at 47 KhzI need a cheap(ish) DVD player with remote volume control and 192khz audio DAC.?
I know that a Protron DVD Player has Built in volume in the player. And it is cheap not sure about the HDMI some of the new ones have the 192 khz I know

If by what you are asking you mean that in Device Manager everything looks OK and the computer recognizes the audio card, and that you just cannot find the icon for manipulation solud level do the following:

    Go to-%26gt;Start

    Go to-%26gt;Run

    Type in:sndvol32.exe

This way you will be able to reach the volume level control. I don't know how to actually fix the problem and have the volume icon in bottom right all the time.
Sounds like your sound card driver is gone or corrupted. If you have the Cd with your drivers on it, i would try reloading your driver or if you know what sound card you have, go to the webpage of the people that made the sound card to download and install the latest drivers.
check your drivers and make sure that your sound card is hooked in correctly..

check and see if the sound card is disable in device manager...

I worked on this issue for a while a few years ago. Although I didn't really do a lot of research or ask around, I decided through a lot of exploring within Windows that there is no built-in way to do it. I suppose anything is possible, if you have the programming experience to write a simple program that will do it for you, but I don't, and didn't have the inclination to try.

So all in all, I don't think you can do it.

I may be proven wrong though. It wouldn't be the first time. :-)

Well, if you have the original CD that came with your computer, you could use that to install it back. Or, you could go to device manager and check for changes in hardware, which will automatically detect your sound hardware and will look on the internet for a driver and install if for you.

Good luck.HELP ME!!!! I've just accidentally deleted realtek audio from my control panel and now dont have sound.?
    Why did you do that..??

Go here to get the drivers to reinstall your sound...

And STOP uninstalling stuff you have no clue as to it's function!
You can install realtek(sound) driver from CD which is preferred by you when buying computer.

You can also perform system restore.(in such situation)

    Follow this steps:

    Start%26gt;All Programs%26gt;Accessories%26gt;System Tools%26gt;System Restore.
No need to be panic. You don't need an installation CD as long as you have internet connection. Run Windows update, you'll find the realtek in the hardware portion. Install the update, you'll find realtek is back. It's that simple. Good luck!
    Try a system restore

Under sound and audio devices in control panel its says i have no audio device?

what can i do, my computer will not play any audio, i was messing around with stuff in the device manger (stupid thing to do)and i must have done something wrong, I'm running windows xp sp 2, please help, my computer was working fine until i started messing around with things, PS would a system restore sort out hardware problems,Under sound and audio devices in control panel its says i have no audio device?
    Things to try:

If you have the audio device's driver disc, insert it and then In Device Manager right click in the right pane and select ';Scan for hardware changes';. If it finds your audio device it may ask for a location of the driver in which case you should point it to the CD Rom. If you don't have the disc, go to the manufacturer's website and download (make sure you get the exact right one, or it may not work properly) it, then point to the downloaded location when prompted.

System Restore to a previous point (before you started exploring the device manager). You will not lose newly installed programs or changed files.Under sound and audio devices in control panel its says i have no audio device?
Might as well try it ,Failing that re install sound drivers Or download from computer manufacturers.
That mean ur sound card driver is corrupt or u accidentally remove it. Install it from motherboard driver disk.

System Restore can help but you have to face some other losses such as if you install any program after that restore point than u lost it after system restore
well i am only new at all of this
basicaly if you install windows version means all audio software also there.

    so select start-%26gt;computer-%26gt;control panel-%26gt;audio devices

    and you konw all think
your audio drivers somehow must have been uninstalled.so get your driver cd and and install your audio drivers once again and i think it will work.

The speakers on my computer won't work. When I go to control panel to put higher volume it says no audio device

From what you are describing I suspect you've either installed a 'new' sound card or just plain lost your sound card driver.

Right click on my computer, properties, hardware, device manager, double click on Sound, video......., double click on Vinyl ......Driver..., Driver, Update Driver.

If this fails to correct the problem:

Go to the manufacturer website and download and install the driver for your model sound card.

Reinstall the driver from the CD that came with your sound card.

Good LuckThe speakers on my computer won't work. When I go to control panel to put higher volume it says no audio device
Did u try making sure they are plugged in proporly????The speakers on my computer won't work. When I go to control panel to put higher volume it says no audio device
It sounds like your sound card isnt working lol that sounded weird, but either your drivers on your sound card arnt working or its just the sound card itself. Try getting the drivers first.

  • What is multi-CD control in car audio system(pioneer)?

I have a pioneer KEH-P6025 audio player which is basically a casette player. Now he has given in the brochure that it has a ';multi-CD control'; capability.Where does the aspect of CD come in casette player. What is multi-CD control in car audio system(pioneer)?
That probably means that it is possible to upgrade the stereo by adding on a cd player that can hold multiple cds. Or maybe this is some feature where ';CD'; stands for something other than compact disc. What is multi-CD control in car audio system(pioneer)?
';multi-CD control'; means your pioneer head unit has the ';IP-bus'; input on the back for addition of external components. a 6 or 12 CD changer is very easily connected to your radio through this feature. You may also purchase adapters that turn it into an auxilliary input to play another audio source through your head unit. Ipod adapters and sattelite tuners also connect through this input. It is very fexible.
The first answer is probably correct, but if you know nothing about car cd's then......

Often car's cd player has a box of say 10 interchangeable cd's kept in the boot. The cable will run through to the control panel where your 'cassette player' is, and just plug in.

    Then you can play cd's.

It has no sound card, but I was able to plug speakers into it because of some sound program, sort of like Windows Volume Control, but I don't think my computer ever had that. I got a new hard drive and installed Windows XP on it, and there is no Volume Control program installed on my computer, and none of the aftermarket freeware volume control programs are working. Does anybody know what program HP had installed on my computer when I got it?What audio/volume-control program did HP have installed on my computer when I bought it?
If it had a jack to plug speakers into, it had a sound card. The sound card has a driver. When Windows was installed on the new drive it was from a Microsoft disk, not an HP disk for that computer, so you have no sound card driver. Go to HP's site, download the sound card driver for that model computer and run the file you download. No program will work, because Windows can't see the sound card without the driver.

there should be a model # on the remote if you have that still considering its broken and you need a new one. Then just type that in on ebay and you should be able to find one.

If all else fails you can pick up one of those programmable remotes it wont be the original but will save you the getting up and sitting down repeatedly just to pause the video or play back.

Cars with Steering Wheel Audio Controls?

Can you provide a list of cars that come with Steering Wheel Audio Controls? I do NOT want to add a remote to my steering wheel. I am looking for cars like the SAAB 9-3 that has the controls built into the wheel.

Thank you!Cars with Steering Wheel Audio Controls?
most GM cars that arent the base line trim for a car have steering wheel mounted controls at least as an option if not standard. but i think almost every manufacturer does it now, it is much safer to have steering wheel mounted controls because then you dont have to take your hands off of the wheel. but i think that all trim levels of the 9-3 have steering wheel mounted controls because saab is a luxury brand. but you better hurry if you are gonna buy one, saab is getting the ax soon.

Some sound cards don't support advanced options. But if you said you've seen it before, it sounds like you're right, the audio drivers are gone.

Determine which audio card you have and go to the manufacturers' website. If unsure, maybe try the free version of Everest, a lot of people swear by it. Finding your old driver CDs would also let you know what you're using.

I am looking for a camcorder with an audio input jack and a remote control. Who makes such a thing?

Most consumer camcorders over $150 have a wireless infrared remote.

The Canon FS and HF (flash memory) and ZR 900, ZR930 and ZR960 (miniDV tape) have a mic jack... but no manual audio control. All have an infrared wireless remote.

The Canon HV30 and HV40 have a mic jack, manual audio control and wireless infrared remote.

If you want a wired remote (LANC), that will take more research - at the moment, I *think* the Sony HVR A1 might be the cheapest with that from a high definition format... the Canon GL2 may have it for standard def only.

To understand what the WIRELESS infrared remote can do, read the camcorder's manual - download that from the camcorder manufacturer's site (usually in the Support area).

The fact that it is not appearing in your control panel is not that promising. If you downloaded the drivers and still nothing your only options left are:

    1) Maybe the sound card is just disabled

    Right click on My Computer

    Left click on Properties

    Left click on Hardware Tab

    Left Click on Device Manager

Then check your sound options there.

    2) Back you data up to an external source and reload your laptop back to the factory image with your restore disk. (on the chance you have the wrong driver).

    3) The sound card is damaged and not reporting to the Hardware Device Manage.

In this case you will need to replace the sound card. Unfortunately on a laptop this usually means a new system board

no audio device means not sound card, have you got a sound card fitted and if you have have you got the drivers installed to check if your sound card is ok go to the control panel click on system click the hardware tab then the device manager button look down the list to sound, video and game controllers if there's a yellow triangle over it there's a problem and it's usually to do with driversI connected a pair of speakers on to my computer but it says ';No Audio Device'; in control panel.?
what ver of windows? vista maybe?? could need to update audio driver?
    update your audio drivers
first you want to check to see if your soundcard is being recognized and if you have a cd for your card install the audio drivers for it that should fix it, make sure your device isnt disabled
maybe you don't have a soundcard
Update your sound card and make sure its properly installed.

if you dont have a sound card installed visit the Speaker's producer website and download it.

I've erased an important file and now i got no sound in my laptop.it says '; no audio device'; in control panel ?

Go to the manufacturer website and they should have support and drivers place that you can find drivers for your exact model, just have the model of the laptop with you and search for your's. If it's dell, you'll select the model and it'll look for the configuration example 600m. If it's HP, just put the exact number that says on the bottom of your laptop example: dv5256us. Don't know about others but they should have a support page in their website.I've erased an important file and now i got no sound in my laptop.it says '; no audio device'; in control panel ?
You can either try to use System Restore to roll changes back to where it was working. Since audio drives is a system file it'll be automatically restored to it's original state.

If you don't have a save point where you can roll changes back to - try manufacturer's website, they usually have drivers available for every laptop model they make.I've erased an important file and now i got no sound in my laptop.it says '; no audio device'; in control panel ?
sounds like you erased a driver file, do you know what sound system you are using? for example if it is one built into your motherboard, do you know what make and model of motherboard you are using? we can then find the drivers for you online and get this sorted ^_^

edit: delman7777 isnt a system restore a bit drastic for what sounds like a lost driver? wouldnt it make sense to try replacing the driver first, and then if that doesnt work roll back to a restore point? ;)
    Go to settings/control panel/system/device manager

and delete the sound device and shut down. Reboot

and you should get the message ';new device found'; see

if windows can install it from the windows files.

If it is not there you will have to download the driver and install it manually.
Try doing a restore point. Goto accessories/system tools/system restore.

How come when i go to control panel, it says no audio device?

when i go to to control panel and click on sound and audio device everything in the window is all gray and it won't let me click on anything. it also says no audio device. help? please. How come when i go to control panel, it says no audio device?
First, if it is a PC, we reseat the sound card if it is a sound card. If it is an onboard device...we'll treat it like a laptop.

With a laptop, the soundcard can ';disappear'; because something MAY be loose, or it could just be a power issue. It happens on my wife's laptop all the time...andsometimes on my desktop PC. (If restarting the PC into safe mode (press F8 as it boots up to get the prompt) and the restarting back into normal windows doesn't fix it) You'll need to go to the control panel, open system, go to the hardware tab, go to device manager, open up the sound devices and look for your sound device's name and highlight it and then choose remove. You'll then reboot and it should ';refind'; your sound card.

Hopefully that works. Also, be sure you always have the newest drivers from the sound card manufacturer or the laptop manufacturer. How come when i go to control panel, it says no audio device?
    Install sound driver.

Try right clicking the entry and make sure its enabled

Make sure your sound isn't on Mute.I have no sound on my laptop. I run with XP and have looked in Sound %26amp; Audio Devices in Control Panel.?
If you have flushed your OS you may need the Realtec AC97 Audio Driver.. search, download, install
Just Check the Drivers of your Sound Card if you can't hear the voice maybe the Drivers are not installed properly.

so in that case just find the model name of your sound card and then find it on internet by going on google or at th official web site of your laptop manufacture.
you might have to reinstall your sound drivers. either reinstall your operating disk or get the drivers off the internet. and download them.
go to start, right click my computer, then left click manage, when the next page comes up click on DEVICE MANAGER,on the right you will see a list of components on your computer, scroll down to sound, video and game controllers, click the + sign to expand the tree and locate any sound devices, right click each, then click uninstall for each one and then restart computer and let windows recognize them again and it will reinstall the drivers too.
It sounds like you might be deaf. I would suggest speaking with a qualified medical professional for a thorough diagnosis. Hope this helps.
if you are using windows xp operationg system, use system restore, to restore your system seting by choosing start menu%26gt; all programs%26gt; asccessories%26gt; system tools%26gt; system restore. then pick the date where your soundcard was work fine, let your pc restart. done.
make sure the audio drivers are updated. Also check the volume/ speakers setting to make sure the volume is on
Hey, u jst reunstall the mother board drivers with the cd given 2 u when u buy d laptop...... After reinstalling jst restart the system and u can have sound in ur laptop......
If you have an HP, look on the front, if the blue light is on, hit the mute button next to it... my dad does that a lot.
If you have already installed the sound deviance, and it doesn't work, the ID version of Windows Xp is not good for your laptop. Get another version and install it again ;)

what can I do to fix it?I just restored my computer, and now I have no audio, I looked under control panel, and it says No audio devic?
You need to install the drivers for your audio device.

If you have the disc the computer came with, put it in. There should be an option to install drivers or some option similar to that.

Otherwise, go to the manufacturer's website. Most all have the drivers available in their Help/Support/Downloads section. Find the one for the audio device, download and install it.I just restored my computer, and now I have no audio, I looked under control panel, and it says No audio devic?
I'm having the exact same problem. When I install drivers, part way through installation it reminds me that I have no speakers plugged in, even though I've tried it with multiple sets of speakers that are, in fact, plugged into the computer.
download this. google uniblue driver scanner from here http://www.liutilities.com/products/driverscanner/

use this serial key to activate the product DS-G06F8-3F0C3-74D32-06C90-60601-000G0

that thing scans ur computer for missing divers and let u install them :)
Did you ';restore'; your computer? Or did you just reformat and install Windows? You likely did the latter and now you need to finish the installation process by installing all your drivers (such as your sound drivers)

you may have to load the drivers for your audio

With in Car Audio Using a USB Input do you control navigation through the library on the mp3 player or stereo?

I'm assuming you're talking about the head units that have a front panel USB jack. Some even have an SD card slot. So you would have to control navigation with the car stereo unit itself. The advantage here is that there's one less loose object in the driver's area.

If you want to control navigation via your mp3 player, look for one with a front auxiliary input. The advantage I see to this approach is that if you have a high quality MP3 player you can use it's capabilities, and you're not stuck with an inferior decoder in the head unit.

Shop around, and not just on the internet. Go to your local car stereo shops and take your USB drive with you. Any good retailer will let you plug your jumpdrive into their demo models.

And don't ever pay list price for anything. If a shop wants to charge you list price, shop the competition.

We recently gave it to someone to clean out everything we didnt need and start fresh with the computer and now we have no sound and the guy moved, everything else it perfect. My computer has no sounds and when I go to control panel it says theres no audio device found.?
You probably need to download a driver for the sound card. Go to the sound card website and download a driver. My computer has no sounds and when I go to control panel it says theres no audio device found.?
Take a look and see if the speakers are plugged into the correct port. Usually the green one. If you have subwoofer, then another also.

Take a look at your device manager and see if the sound card is installed. (Use help to get to device manager if you don't know how to find it in the control panel or from (my)computer.) Look at sound, video, etc and see if your sound card is ok. If you see a yellow exclamation, you have to install the driver.

Can't give you more specifics without knowing more about what's wrong.
OK this what you do on your START button click once go to Settings %26gt;Control Panel Click onto it. once your IN look for ICON name (System) Double Click now where gonna go ahead and click TAB Hardware then Device Manager and it'll show you your components that installed in your PC now look for the Sound Card if yo use a yellow exclamation mark or Question mark means you need to Reinstall your sound card driver to do this either find out the manufacturer of the sound card or better yet you need to to have your computer hookup to the internet to do this. Once your PC connected you need to click onto sound device and we will update driver hopefully it can automatically download the driver automatically it'll take a couple of minutes to search for it. If in case it doesn't do it find out the type of sound card that you have by going to START then Programs and go to accessories and click onto system information and find the info on your soundcard. Only way we can make your sound work is to get the driver for it. Hope this help you alittle bit.

Probably notWhen I install my flip screen face plate will my stering wheel audio controls still work?
If your talking about completely changing your radio to one that has a flip screen faceplate then no probably not. Your steering wheel buttons are hardwired into your radio and if you alter it then your audio controls will be as well.
you need to find a pac module that will interface the steering wheel controls, what it actually does is progam the functions from the new remote to the steering wheel controls, be sure to have some one help you cause its little difficult to do by yourself, so read the directions really good before you start

When i use Control panel i loosed audio from my COMPUTER?

You should update your Sound Card driver, look up the Sound Card you are currently using by going into the Start Menu, and select Run, then type in DXDIAG, say yes when prompted to continue. A window will open up and across the top of this window there will be tabs. Click on the Tab called Sound, and copy down all the information or save it to a text file by selecting Save all Information, and you can then scroll down in the text file to Sound Devices. Based on the information from DXDIAG, you can do a search through Google, for a current driver.

Do you see your Audio device in here? (probably with a yellow exclamation mark by it, if you've uninstalled the driver).

Do a single-right click over the device %26amp; select ';Update driver'; from the list.By mistake I have removed the audio device from control panel Add/Remove programmes..how to get it back?
if you want to reinstall this than first you must have the motherboard disc which contains the audio drivers and devices you already have.

try to install it and it will surely work
if u have installed it yourself. so u must have the CD of it. so u can install it yourself

Epic battle for control over my audio files?

I use iTunes to listen to music on my PC, but every time I start iTunes it says that it is not the default music player and asks me if I want to make it the default. I say yes every time, but every time I start the program it says it isn't the default.

How can I find out which program keeps hijacking the right to play my music? It's kind of funny watching the programs duke it out, but it's also annoying.Epic battle for control over my audio files?
I can almost guarantee it's windows media player that is the culprit. The quickest and easiest way to find out is to pop in a cd and see what happens. If windows media player opens up to play it, then that is the default and you need to change the settings on that player as well in order to have ITunes play as default. Window may pop up and actually ask you what to do with file. If it does, and the play using media player option is highlighted, then again, it's the default and you need to change it. I had the same problem with using ITunes, WMP, and Yahoo music engine. Once you go into each media player program on your system and manually change the default media they are set to play automatically, it will work fine. Notebook does not recognize the ';Line In'; jack. The Audio Control Panel shows no Line In device either.?

The laptop shares the mic and line in jack. Before i restored the laptop, whenever i inserted a 3.5 mm cable into the jack, windows or the driver would prompt me to choose what i wanted the device to be treated as ';Microphone'; or ';Line In.'; It no longer prompts me to do that. I have download all the new audio drivers as well. In the audio control options under the Recording Tab. It shows 2 Microphone devices. Could it be that perhaps Vista SP 2 can solve this problem?

Mic and Line in do the same thing. Windows, which I assume you are using, does not normally prompt to determine the difference. I would assume you had some other software that did that. Since MIC/LineIn do the same thing, I wouldn't worry about it as long as it works.

  • Which line driver should I go with the Audio Control or Rockford Fosgate 3SIXTY.2, not for sure if guy is lyin

Im cool with this guy at this stereo place, I don't know whether to trust him or not because I passed up a good doeal on Rockford Fosgate 3SIXTY.2 at half cost, Im trying to get a little more base to my car, and he says I should go with a comproable Audio Control line driver over the Rockfrod Fosgate 3SIXTY.2, because they have been in the game longer and specialize in nothing but Line Drivers pretty much! However, the Rockfrod Fosgate 3SIXTY.2 seems not too shabby, and looks better in my car setup since I have 2 P3s 12 inch subs being powered by a Rockforford T400 4 channel amp, along with the T1500 power series! Is this guy trying to push his **** on me, or is he guiding me the right way! he says he likes the wa the audioc ontrol sounds better! Is audio control the better one to go with, or witht he Rockford go better with my amps and subs! i hear witht he Rockford you cant adjust the highs and lows, someone please let me know?Which line driver should I go with the Audio Control or Rockford Fosgate 3SIXTY.2, not for sure if guy is lyin
they will both work. audio control is the **** but the RF aint bad. if RF looks better in your set up and you can get it cheap then get it. most people cant hear the difference it might be noticable on a machine but to the ear you wont tell if it is a difference or not.... yes he is pushing his **** off on youWhich line driver should I go with the Audio Control or Rockford Fosgate 3SIXTY.2, not for sure if guy is lyin
Honestly they are both really good. I have installed many Audio Control peices and 3sixties. Heres a unique difference, you need a laptop or pda to program the 3sixty. That can be a good thing for an audiophile like me, or a bad thing for someone who wants simplicity. What would I do, I would go with the 3sixty.
