multimedia properties says enabled but inactive due an unknown problem. CD volume bar moves but no audio. option pages for audio and MIDI look frozen,cannot select options. Under sound properties, can select schemes,browse, events, but will not play preview sounds , button froze just like multimedia pages options. also no other volume controlNo audio or volume control?
go into control panel, click audio options, then if there is a mute symbol with a box that is checked , uncheck it by clicking on it.
