based on the information you gave me i can offer absolutley no help to you other than the obvious.
go to the manufactures website, look up your laptop model and download the audio drivers for your Operating system, install them, restart and cross your fingers.
Go to gateway.com and click on the support tab. look for your model. what you are looking for is support documents. There is a fix for this but you may have to look a little for it. I used to work for gateway, and I can not remenber the correct steps to take to fix it.
