Why has my laptop lost audio (Control Panel reports: 'No audio devices are installed') and how can I fix it?

Basic Toshiba - Equium A2001VO, with Windows Vista OS. Very grateful for advice on easiest fix. Thanks. Why has my laptop lost audio (Control Panel reports: 'No audio devices are installed') and how can I fix it?
It would suggest that your system has lost the drivers for the sound device. Go into the Control Panel, open System, then, top left, click on Device Manager and see if the Sound Card has a yellow ! by it. If it does open it by double clicking the sound device icon, then open the Driver tab, in the list you should see a button for Rollback Driver just click it and it will re-install the driver. You may need to reboot.

If the button is greyed out then there are no backed up drivers and you will need to go to the Toshiba website and find your model number in the support or Downloads pages and download the audio driver making sure you download the Vista option. Load the drivers and reboot if instructed and that should be the job done. Why has my laptop lost audio (Control Panel reports: 'No audio devices are installed') and how can I fix it?
if you have vista go to the start button search for device manager find {Sound video and game controls then open it and find the speakers you want to use right click and say update drivers
i think u need to install a sound driver, through which musics r played, generally the sound driver comes along with the computer itself , the best one which can be used is the realtekAC97.
Happens with mine sometimes when I've restarted it from hibernation or standby, when its been on for a long time or for no reason at all, best way to fix I find is to simply restart the laptop.
You need to install/re-install the audio drivers. Often times, you need to place an external sound card too.
Download, audio driver
