What is an ';audio remote control';?

Looking at buying my first car, although I haven't passed my test yet. I asked my Dad what an audio remote control is, as one car is boasting having one. Dad couldn't tell me because he was laughing so much, can you enlighten me?What is an ';audio remote control';?
It controls the radio from the steering wheel so you dont have to reach over and be distracted by the radio while driving some are steering wheel mounted some are hand held like the remote for your tv.What is an ';audio remote control';?
There are two kinds. One is hard wired to the radio, but mounted more conveniently for the driver, the can be mounted on the steering wheel, or on the side of the steering binnacle.


Very common.The other, which I think is stupid, is the same as for your TV.
Probably just a remote control for the stereo so you don't have to reach all the way from the drivers seat to the buttons on the stereo
